This small historical city with communist past lingering in the background is slowly but firmly becoming a respected member among other cities in Europe. Being a capital of Slovakia, Bratislava offers something for everyone. It is still inexpensive compared to bigger cities of Europe but it has all the elements of a truly enjoyable city holiday.

Historic old town with coddle stone streets, shade trees and many fountains is a charming part of Bratislava. Enjoy a coffee and some local delicates in cafes with outdoor seating or have a lunch in one of the many idyllic restaurants in the area. Old town is packed with museums and palaces, all paying a tribute to the centuries of history. Visit the Municipal Museum with torture chambers and the beautiful Primate’s palace and the Mirbach Palace. One of the major attractions is the Bratislava castle. Build above the river Danube, this castle was a frontier post of the Roman Empire for many centuries.

Hviezdoslavovo nmestie – a square in the centre of the city is a great orientation spot to head sightseeing. You can find many forms of accommodation near by. For eating out and clubbing the old town is the way to go.
