Tulum On the RoadTulum, Mexico
Tulum is set in amongst Mayan ruins, and their spectacular culture can be seen all around this amazing city. Just outside of town, you will find ruins; temples and remnants of an ancient culture, all perched high on a cliff top. The Mayan ruins are worth seeing for a feeling of history but don't forget to bring a camera for some great shots.
In town there is the main Avenue, which offers hotels, funky bars, cafes, boutiques, restaurants and shops. Here, you can shop, dine, drink and people-watch day to night. Sometimes there are Mayan pole flying performers along the street. If all of this is still not enough for you, there is a spa resort nearby for a relaxing time along the Caribbean Coast.
If you’re looking for a feed, wander up and down avenue and make sure you try some of the local specialities. If it’s international flavour that you’re looking for, there’s a Dutch restaurant, which has a fun feel with a tree popping out from a hole in the floor. Along this street you can find everything from seafood to Italian gnocchi. One you should try is called the Cliffside Lunch which has a great outlook of the beach or Don Cafeto for local meals.
At night there are DJ's and live music playing in restaurants, bars and sometimes along the streets. Clubs are filled with mostly locals who swing around the dance floor. One main dance club is Charlies where the locals usually dance their nights away to salsa music.
