Halloween in Rome

Once a year we can become whoever we want, act like we want and dress how we fell like, without being judged, is it Halloween? Yes, indeed! It's a day that droves a line between autumn and winter, it comes with some kind of nostalgic about the hot summer nights out eating gelato and looking for a place to cool down, it turns into cold ones looking for hot castagne, hot chocolate and warm, cosy places in Italy.

Even if Halloween is not an Italian holiday, it has become pretty popular, even beating the famous carnival which comes at the Lent time, which traditions are pretty much the same dressing up, special food, asking for sweets and so on. Carnevale is more popular for little kids, Halloween has come as a saviour for young people and elders for a nice reason to party and becoming more childish than they usually can afford to be, no judgement at all...

Nowadays there are tendency are looking undoubtedly more in favour to Halloween, it was imported from the USA through TV and pop culture, also from the many visitors coming to Italy and Italians living in USA. Even the All Saints and All Souls Day comes after Halloween in popularity, which isn’t a great thing for religious authorities, because of the 1st and 2nd November, it suppose to be a time to remember our dead with love.

What about the Halloween celebration in the capital next to the Vatican? Don't worry , plenty of them, all the clubs and pubs will be open, offering various shows and entertainment to spend the best Halloween night in Rome. It has become more about candy and costumes and less about the ghosts and ghouls.

So, dress up, become whoever you want and head out for the Halloween party, areas like Testaccio for something easy, Villa Borghese for fancy clubs, or the centre next to the Piazza Navona, Pantheon, plenty of bars, the famous Campo dei Fiori fulfilled with locals, or Trastevere for nice meal and something more calm. Dress up in scary costumes, you will see Rome full of witches, lost souls of Jack and devils.
