The origins of Hamburg dates back to the 8th century, it was found in 830, originally named Hammaburg, started by colonies that settled on the banks of the Alster river. Hamburg is situated in the North of Germany, right in the middle where Elbe and Alster rivers meet, with a population of 1.7 million people, being the seventh largest city in European Union. It's a center of economy, being very important city for medicine, biotechnical and airplane industries, many famous names come from Hamburg.
As every city in the world, Hamburg have its special dining places, definitely not to miss. Hamburg’s cooking traditions are mixture of typical German traditions and abundant supply of seafood. If traditional German dish would consist of pork and boiled potatoes, in this city various types of fish, are more found. The spices are different and pretty tropical, such as pear, juniper berries, cardamom, allspice, and cinnamon that comes with meat dishes. Well, no doubt , the bear stays, always , with everything, in any occasion. In Middle ages, Hamburg had hundreds of breweries, not to mention, that it was in Hamburg, where the discovery of hops as an ingredient to beer was made.
