English style muffins
You all have heard about the delicious treat that looks like mushrooms, muffins, worldwide famous treat, English invented them back in 10th century in Wales, English style baked muffins have spread all over the world, overrating also the famous croissant all over the world.
English style muffins which are yeast raised and cooked on a griddle, may date back to the 10th or 11th century in Wales. But it has been a long way , culturally and geographically, there are still rumours going on that no englishman ever heard about muffins until the late 90's when they were imported from United States.
There are many legends and stories about it, we chose the most common and believable one, which is the following. It was originally eaten by poor servants in England's Victorian society, when a family baker a simple cake turned into a muffin that later became a goddess of all classes of society. He started them from leftover bread and biscuit dough scraps and mashed potatoes, once the rich class from upstairs tasted them, they kept asking for more, especially during the tea time.
Suddenly muffin became the most requested sweet during the tea time in England, and the muffin factories sprang all over the isle. It was all about muffins, they went crazy, muffin men carrying wooden trays on the streets fulfilled with those sweet cakes. Private houses and clubs waited for a tea time to come, so they could taste this fancy new sweet , inviting friends and do the daily gossip around the tea time. There was also a song made for children ,Oh, do you know the muffin man!
