The Carnival of Venice is next to Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Brazil the most important in the world, is celebrated 40 days before Easter and fills the city with a magical atmosphere.

The key reason to visit now though is the legendary ‘La Regatta Storica’ or Voga alla Veneta as the venetians call it. It takes place on 4th September 2016 and it’s an event that brings people from all over the world as well as every Venetian to the canals. It’s the rowing festival of the year where enthusiasts come to race against each other in gondolas down the same set of canals as they did 1000 years ago. There will be viewing platforms set up for the herds of spectators and decorations over the whole city.
