This new guesthouse was opened on Nov 11, 2013. Guesthouse Shitamachi-Kujo is run by two Japanese men. As one of them is a language instructor (English, French, Spanish and some Chinese), you won't have any language problem here. The other is a carpenter. He renovated more or less 90 year old house keeping an old Japanese atmosphere.

Shitamachi-Kujo consists of two houses next to each other. One is only for female travelers to have them stay safely and relaxedly. The other is for a family, a group or old married couple. We are not willing to host young couples because of thin walls and FUSUMA. If you ask better service or more privacy, please stay at hotels. But if you want to experience real Japanese old culture, this is the place to stay.
