Luna Sonrisa is a bright, colourful, cosy yet spacious hostel in Cerro Alegre, Valparaiso's most emblematic hill and the heart of the UNESCO World heritage area. Built in around 1900 and recently refurbished, it has 4 metre-high ceilings.

We have rooms to shape all tastes and budgets, from spacious dormitory accommodation to singles and doubles with shared or en-suite bathrooms and a luxury apartment on our top floor, as well as comfortable common areas and a large fully equipped kitchen.

We are not a big hostel - we only have space for 16 guests. We think that this is the perfect size for you to feel at home here and for us to give you the best attention possible.

We serve one of the best breakfasts you will have on your travels including handmade wholemeal bread, fresh fruit and cheese, our wonderful homemade jams and, of course tea and real coffee.

The hostel is owned and run by the author of the Footprint guide to Chile. Janak has also contributed to the last ten editions of the South American Handbook. As an expert on independent travel in Chile, he (and the rest of our friendly staff) will be on hand to answer any queries about your travels in the country and help make your stay in Valparaiso more rewarding.
