Habitat Hostel is a 25 bed (sleeps 28) five star self-catering hostel situated in the centre of Ballater, near Balmoral, on the east side of the Cairngorms National Park.

Our bunk and private rooms offer great accommodation for groups, families and independent travellers.

Large open plan kitchen/dining/communal area with wood burning stove. Drying room and cycle storage available.

Either book the whole hostel, a room or just a bed. No minimum stay.

In a great location for the east Cairngorms; amazing walking, climbing and cycling nearby; on the bus route between Aberdeen and Braemar; Lochnagar (both the mountain and the distillery) and Loch Muick less than 10miles away; Balmoral only a 15min drive; Muir Of Dinnet National Nature Reserve (with MacGregor's Cave) & Cambus O May Forest just up the road; a mound of castles nearby; close to Lecht and Glenshee ski resort - the list goes on!

In the village are several restaurants & cafes, two bike hire places, an information centre and a variety of shops including a butchers, a deli and a well-stocked Co-op.


Beds: 25: 1 x 8, 1 x 6, 1 x 2, 3 x family room (double & bunk). All rooms are en suite.

Open: All year. Reception open 8-10am & 5-10pm. Hostel is closed 10am-5pm.
