Set in Western Australia's oldest hotel, 1849 Backpackers in Albany is something new set into something which, for Australia, is very old. The rooms have lovely high ceilings, are kept meticulously clean and rooms are never over crowded.

Local owner operators run the hostel and take on only the friendliest people as staff.

We have single, double, twin, triple, four and six share room. Single sex dorms but we're flexible.

We are having a lot of fun adding facilities to this great old building. We provide FREE WiFi facilities for people with their own laptops, and for those who don't, completely free, unlimited internet access as well.

We have built a grass 18 meter x 12 meter 4-a-side soccer pitch and volleyball on the property, there is free on site parking for guests, big lounge with 50' flat screen TV armed with FOXTEL for the sports fans and of course DVD.

There is, table tennis room, freee BBQ's, two fully equipped (spotlessly clean kitchens), curry nights, hot showers, deep baths, gardens, laundry and tours starting soon. Bikes are free and we make delicious, home made pancakes every morning from 7 - 9.30am.
